🤠 THE SAUCE BARN DANCE 🤠 aka Slutty Country night! ⚡️
Back by popular demand! Our annual barn dance returns with a live square dance caller and live string band, DJ, possibly a BBQ (??) and much more!
Whether you're a seasoned boot stomper or have never square danced in your life, come get out on the floor and give it a whirl. All experience levels are welcome, and the dances are taught as you go.
Square dancing is a surprisingly sophisticed way to connect and meet people: changing partners, laughing and smiling, trying something slightly ridiculously but also really fun, and figuring things out as a group - all to the guidance of a local life square dance caller and 4-piece string band!
When the live band winds down, the dance floor keeps going with a DJ-led hoedown.
TIMING
6:00 PM - DOORS OPEN
Come early, settle in, grab some food (there is a BBQ pit at the venue... if it's not raining, let's do it!!), and get into the Saucy spirit.
Weather permitting, expect outdoor pop-up experience in the large fenced-in outdoor space throughout the evening.
7:00 PM - DOORS CLOSE ⚠️ DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE EVENT, THERE IS NO LATE ARRIVAL
For safety and depth of connection, this is a closed-container event. Please leave enough time to park, walk, check in at the door, and get yourself situated.
7:30 PM - SQUARE DANCE + CONNECTION WORKSHOP

AFTER THE SQUARE DANCE - DJ HOEDOWN AND OTHER DELIGHTS
- SCOUT HOUSE - DJ-led dance party
- CLUBHOUSE - Tea lounge, squish areas, and other ways to connect, relax, and hang out
Weather permitting, there will be additional outdoor offerings as well.
10:45 PM - SOUND HEALING and CLOSING CIRCLE
Wind down the night with a life sound healing and our closing circle.
11:15 PM - THE PARTY ENDS. SEE YOU NEXT TIME!
We're taking over Harvey West, with the Scout House and Clubhouse connected by a large fenced-in outdoor space.
That gives us two rooms to play with: one for a rocking dance floor and one for lounging, connection, and additional experiences throughout the evening.

WHY DO WE COME TO THE SAUCE?
To connect with ourselves and each other in a space that is intentional, with permission to be daring, where consent is the culture, and everyone is there to be real.
To know ourselves more deeply. Every Sauce is an opportunity to learn skills that help us connect more consciously and to discover new ways of interacting with ourselves and other people.
To take healthy risks. There are many well-known spaces in life where we cruise along in our comfort zone. The Sauce is your monthly chance to step out of autopilot with other cool, conscious people who want the same thing.

THE SAUCE IS A SEXY PARTY - NOT A SEX PARTY
This event is an intentional, pleasure-centered event that blends group activities like kink, intimacy, movement, sensual touch, social connection, and a sober, sexy dance party. It is NOT a play party.
The boundaries of the Sauce are:
• No intoxication, drugs, or alcohol. This is a sober event.
• No touching genitals with hands, faces, or mouths, even through clothing. Consensual bumping and grinding is fine.
• Increase your consent practices with strangers: communicate explicitly, pay attention to body language, and don't assume familiarity or interest. If you sense disinterest, move on; if you're not interested, clearly end the interaction.
• Topless-optional event as per Santa Cruz city ordinances - an exposed chest doesn't indicate any level of consent for touch or interaction.
• Bottoms must stay on - bottoms of some kind must stay on at all times. Underwear and thongs are fine.
• Kinky spaces are PG-13 for playful exploration and must stay within the Sauce container.

Every Sauce has a dress-up theme, and this is one of my FAVES - esp for Santa Cruz, where many of us might shy away from exploring this aesthetic. All the more reason to push an edge!!
- Put on your daisy dukes, sexy boots, cowboy hats, fringe, denim, bandanas, leather, rhinestones, crop tops, chaps, bolo ties, or whatever else says “yeehaw!”
- Country sexy. Rodeo glam. Ranch-hand realness. Honky-tonk fantasy.
- Go subtle or go ridiculous. Sexy or silly. Make it yours.
